Home > News > The Cantors Take Italy- And You’re Invited!
July 12, 2019 in Hazzan Asa Fradkin
Question- and stay with me here- have you ever hung out with a group of Cantors?
You might be thinking “ Wow, I’m imagining a bunch of people talking over each other, singing over each other, comparing Tfilah and Trope styles and their favorite old time Hazzanim.”
And you’d be somewhat right! Or, well, kind of right; it depends heavily on which kind of Cantors you are hanging out with.
But MY friends, MY Cantorial Hevre are a blend of super talented, nerdy, and fun loving variety and are just about the most engaging, hilarious and deeply thoughtful people I know.
In fact, five of us started a group chat 2 YEARS AGO, and it’s still going strong on a daily basis. So we are very close.
They are the most special part of belonging to the Cantors Assembly, a family within a family of Hazzanim who have some of the closest professional and personal relationships you can hope for. We sing, we laugh, we share stories and we help each other grow in our profession.
Next June, I, along with Hazzan Lubin, am inviting you to join our Cantorial family, as we explore Jewish Italy. There will be concerts, daily singing of Jewish music, Italian and Eastern European alike. There will be a professor that serves as our guide to the Jewish story in Italia.
Best of all, you will be surrounded by music, and people who devote their lives to the music of the Jewish people. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I am so thrilled to have our Beth El community join this fabulous trip.

There will be an information session to gauge interest on Monday September 9 at 7:00 pm in the Family Room at Beth El.
Shabbat Shalom and Ciao,
