Join us on Friday, April 25 at 6:30 pm for prayer, reflection, and song! Welcome Shabbat in a joyful, participatory, and engaging service, with melodies that calm, songs that enliven, and prayers that elevate.
This lay-led service blends tradition and creativity, drawing on contemporary and innovative Jewish music from around the world, including from B’nai Jeshurun and Romemu in New York, and Shira Chadasha and Nava Tehila in Jerusalem.
Following the service, there will be a Shabbat dinner*, and after the dinner, Beth El congregant and international human rights attorney Jared Genser will discuss the ways in which neurotechnology has the potential to change what it means to be human. He will also share a Jewish perspective on the unique human rights challenges posed by neurotechnologies. Jared serves as Special Advisor on the Responsibility to Protect to the Organization of American States and is Managing Director of Perseus Strategies, a law firm that provides legal advisory services to companies, non-profit organizations, individuals, and governments.
*Although the Shabbat dinner is sponsored by NuBEENs, Beth El’s empty nesters’ group, it’s open to everyone. Registration is required for the dinner but not to attend the service. Click here to register for the dinner.
